Austrian/Hungarian Traditional Comfort Food

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Beef Rump Steak (Inch long cubes)

  • 1 kg Red Onion (medium-fine chopped)

  • Ground Caraway

  • 2 Cloves Minced Garlic

  • Sweet Paprika

  • Chili

  • Salt + Pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions:

In a pot with olive oil cook onions until translucent (not brown!), add minced garlic and let cook, add 1 tsp of ground caraway and at least 3 tbsp of paprika, add meat and cook, stir frequently until meat has browned, fill up the pot with water and on high heat let cook

To taste, add soup seasoning and chili, maybe some tomato paste stirring frequently

Reduce heat to a simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally, add seasoning to taste, if not red enough add a little more paprika, if the meat not tender enough let cook a little longer

Once everything is ready remove beef from sauce (set to side) and blend the sauce, add beef back in and serve with white bread, Spätzle or just cooked potatoes
